Switch to America's most reliable wireless network* and keep your phone number. When you port your number to Verizon Wireless from Qwest® or another wireless or landline service provider, you'll benefit in several ways:

  • No new number to remember.
  • No need to contact dozens of family members, friends and associates.
  • No unnecessary expense printing new stationery or business cards.

Porting Tips

Follow these tips for a smooth transition from Qwest to Verizon Wireless.

  • Keep It Live—Don't cancel your current service before switching. Your number must be active to switch.
  • Have Your Paperwork On-Hand—To make the process easier, please ensure that important information is readily available. Have a copy of your most current bill and, if possible, your contract. Read the contract carefully to learn about any applicable early termination fees and other contractual requirements. We will need your account number in order to quickly process your request.
  • Cover Your Bases—Have an alternate contact number for emergencies in case the port takes longer than anticipated.
  • Keep Records—Write down contact information from your phone before beginning the porting process.
  • Don't Delegate—Only the authorized account holder can switch a number. However, the process can take place in a retail store or over your phone.
  • Cut the Cord—You can port your landline number to Verizon Wireless.
