Happy Holidays!
For our new and current Qwest Connect Quantum customers, the holidays may be even happier this year – this week, Qwest announced that we’re reducing the price of our premium Qwest Fiber-Optic Fast Internet service by 40 percent!
Qwest Connect Quantum, delivering connection speeds up to 20 Mbps, now starts at $59.99 a month.
Let’s face it — everyone could use more savings these days. For qualifying customers who need to download a 2-hour movie in as little as 6 minutes or 30 songs in as little as one minute, they can get the speed they need at a much lower price.
To find out where this service is available, visit the “Local Deployment” forums here on the Qwest High-Speed Internet Online Community. Or, you can check out www.qwest.com/fiberoptic.
Of course, those of us who just want to do our holiday shopping online, watch some online video and speed through our favorite Web sites can enjoy Qwest Connect Silver (connection speeds up to 1.5 Mbps) and Qwest Connect Platinum (connection speeds up to 7 Mbps) which also have great promotions. Just check out www.qwest.com/broadband for information.
So how will you be using your Qwest High-Speed Internet to connect to the season? Video chatting? Sharing family photos with relatives? Skipping the holiday crowds by doing all of your shopping online? We want to hear from you!

It’s been more than three months since the inception of our online community, and we’re excited about the conversations we’ve been able to have directly with you, our customers. Our goal with this new online community is to create a person-to-person channel to keep you connected to what we’re doing here at Qwest and to connect you with other Qwest customers – your active participation helps us to achieve that goal and helps Qwest serve you better.
If you’re new to the community, welcome! We’re here to listen to you – your questions, ideas, suggestions and feedback are all welcome. Whether you comment on one of our blogs, have a conversation with us in the forums or send us a private message, we want to hear from you.
If you’ve been participating in our online community, thank you. So far, we’ve seen a lot of connections being made. We’ve been able to bring Qwest customers together in the forums where they’ve shared product information, advice and solutions with each other. We’ve also kept members updated with the latest news about our fast fiber-optic Internet services, where it’s being deployed and how customers can check if they can get these new services. Finally, we’ve been especially excited to offer insider perspectives about current Qwest projects and products on our blog.
Again, this “window into Qwest” goes both ways, and we’re happy to answer questions, give guidance and address product and service issues through this forum, too. Overall, the engagement has been rich, and we hope you’ve been able to build—and hope you continue to build—a valuable relationship with Qwest.
I look forward to hearing from you, and I thank you for being a member of this community.

Ever wish you could find out if someone’s trying to reach you at home, even if you’re not there? Or maybe you’d like to know the details of your voicemails before you listen to them, like how long it is, who left it and when? Or how about being able to change your home phone call forward phone number from your cell phone to your work phone?
Yesterday, we announced qHome™, the Integrated Message Manager, a new Web tool developed in collaboration with Microsoft Corporation that gives customers online access to their Qwest home phone service. qHome integrates a customer’s Qwest Choice Home ® phone service and Qwest High-Speed Internet ® service through Microsoft’s Windows Live™. So even when you’re away from home, you can manage your voicemails like you manage e-mails, get instant message pop-ups when people call your home phone, save your voicemails on your computer while deleting from your phone, even change your home phone settings and contacts – all from your qHome portal that you can access from most computers.
You can check out the official Qwest announcement here to learn more about qHome and get details about how you can get the service at no additional cost with qualifying features and services, but let’s talk about why we’re offering this product and how it’s going to make your life easier…
It used to be that when you left your house, you left your home phone too, and could only access your voicemail, one at a time, from another phone. Qwest launched qHome because people want more control and accessibility to stay in touch with their life. We’re seeing many aspects of our customers’ lives converge, and so we want to see our technologies converge to make your life easier and to let you connect to the things that are important to you on your terms, and qHome is a part of this effort.
Check out a demo of qHome here and let us know what you think, and be sure to stay tuned to find out when it’s available in other areas.

Today, all of us expect immediate access to news and major events, which is why this year’s Democratic and Republican National Conventions will be more digitally connected than ever. The technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, and when you look at how it will be used, you can see why the conventions have made technology and connectivity a major priority this election year.
The immediacy and reach of the Internet has resulted in an explosion of blogs and, more importantly, their influence. Because of this, there will be more bloggers at this year’s political conventions than ever before, with the DNC quadrupling the number of credentialed bloggers at the event, and the RNC increasing their blogger presence almost 10-fold.
Gone are the days when bloggers were just considered opinions – now they are valued almost, if not as much as members of traditional media! Social media doesn’t stop at bloggers; sites like MySpace and Facebook are connecting followers to each other and to the candidates (both presidential candidates have their own profiles on both sites), and micro-blogging sites like Twitter will encourage minute-by-minute postings about the events.
When you look at the difference in technology from the last political conventions, consider this: YouTube didn’t even exist at the last conventions four years ago. In the 2008 presidential election, seven out of the 16 presidential candidates announced their candidacies on YouTube, and the YouTube debates garnered an astounding amount of attention.
You can bet that at this year’s conventions, the YouTube clips will cover everything from the convention floor to the candidates’ speeches, and because of the technology focus of both events, the clips will be posted virtually in real time. Then there’s streaming video, which will give followers of the campaigns unprecedented access to the events.
The connectivity will be there. How will people take advantage of it? How will you use technology to stay tuned in to the conventions?
