Business Need
"Well, with 80 plus offices throughout the country, we were in desperate need of upgrading our services from a frame relay network to the next level. We chose the route of point-to-point T1 circuits at each of our locations to communicate back to DS3s that are plugged into our equipment here at our main headquarters based in New Jersey. Our one goal in particular, which was achieved by this implementation, was the need for any additional equipment at our sites; we really needed to reduce our overall monthly cost; and to have one point of contact from a technology point, facilities, and definitely from an accounting standpoint as well. Our volume had increased tremendously and our company was growing at a much faster rate than we had anticipated, and because we were at a specific bandwidth with frame relay, we were constantly needing to make changes to that bandwidth. We started out at a 128k and we had to move up to a 256, and by the volume of our calling and our business increasing, it just wasn't cost effective to keep going that route versus even moving to a next level of a point-to-point T1 private line that would give us the full T speed that is significantly different."
Why Qwest
"Their team really has shown us true dedication. In one phone call, we could pretty much sum everything up. They jumped through hoops, so to speak, and that's what we're used to getting, and that's really why we mainly wanted to keep them--and then obviously the greater than 10-year relationship gave us a level of confidence that we needed to be certain that we would make the right choice. We already knew that their network was reliable; you can count the times in that whole 10-year time frame that we've had bad experiences. Everybody has bad experiences, everybody has down time, but there have been a handful of them in that long length of time.
Their costs were very competitive. I think because of the volume that we do have with them, they were able to be the most aggressive with pricing."

"Well, I can say on behalf of myself and the team that I work with here, Qwest definitely has competent, knowledgeable, professional, and the most experienced staff in comparison to the other top three vendors we've worked with in the past--and we have worked with them closely. They work very diligently to resolve all the issues and they're very quick to take ownership if anything fails. There always are some things that are not so perfect, but for the most part we have a great team here and we've never had anyone here really give us major complaints about customer service at Qwest--and we have run into some major issues with customer service with other vendors in the past."
