The demand for bandwidth continues to surge due, in part, to growth in applications, the Internet, centralized architecture and e-business. Qwest® QWave® provides customer solutions utilizing our award winning Qwest® AdaptiveBuild® process. This process delivers fully managed, end-to-end optical networks designed for the specific needs of enterprises and service providers. Designed to offer redundancy, it can protect your network against unexpected failures. QWave is based on a fully-managed service model providing both a long-haul and a metro solution.
QWave is a fully managed, private, point-to-point service delivered over a state-of-the-art dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) network. The product is ideally suited for banks and financial institutions, government organizations, enterprise customers, interexchange carriers (IXCs) and wireless operators that require dedicated broadband transport network connectivity without the need for capital or the responsibility of owning and operating network infrastructure. Qwest provides an end-to-end solution with a wide range of transport bandwidths including 1GbE, 2.5G (OC-48), 10G (OC-192) - SONET or SDH - and 10GbE LAN PHY. Qwest AdaptiveBuild supports any special requirements with respect to interfaces, diversity, end-to-end connectivity and special routing for both metro and long-haul applications.
Some of the distinct features you”ll enjoy from our QWave service include:
Beyond the peace of mind that comes with knowing your network is extremely reliable, QWave offers a comprehensive communications solution that includes these benefits:
Qwest uses state of the art DWDM technology that enables several streams of digital information to be put on different wavelengths of light, eliminating interference with one another. This allows transport of up to 96 channels in a single strand of fiber and translates into higher capacity and lower cost.
Protection—Qwest offers a variety of protection configurations, including point of presence (POP)-to-POP as well as premises-to-premises services. This is available for long-haul and metro applications.
Diversity—Qwest can meet customer requirements for redundancy or disaster recovery. Diversity can be configured to include POP, fiber path and node diversity. Dual entrances and fiber risers in buildings may also be available subject to confirmation of available facilities. Diversity circuits are uniquely identified in Qwest systems to ensure committed routing.
Interconnections to customer equipment (applications)—Qwest offers a variety of interconnections with customer-owned equipment for data, video and storage protocols.
